Buying a Miracle
Perfect:
May you make your thinking,
speaking and doing equal,
and become complete and
perfect. In order to become
perfect, your thoughts,
words and actions should all
be the same.
Hiya,
On Tuesday our
wonderful meditation class
began again....we've all
enjoyed the break but were
starting to miss it, what we
have decided to do this term
is further down, the dates
are in the diary below and
more about meditation in
general follows that. Still
an opportunity to start next
week or the week after.
There is a few energy share
meetings and spiritual
cinema, non members can drop
in to try the meditation and
everyone is welcome to join
in the energy shares and
spiritual cinemas but please
let me know in advance.
Next month Yvonne Jevons
will be with us again to
teach the Raindrop
Technique (please
lodge interest asap).
We're doing a Sekhem
Advanced Follow Up
on the 9th of Sept and I
will be teaching
Sekhem 1 and 2 on
the 15th 16th and 17th Sept.
I was thinking of doing
Indian Head Massage
on a Saturday for those who
can never make my usual
Monday dates - any interest
for the 4th of October?
I was also thinking of
having someone up to present
EmoTrance -
we would need a fairly
substancial group to support
the two tutors - would you
be kind enough to lodge
interest asap.
and if you'd like to see my
musical slide show....reply
this email.
I will be training more
hypnosis as well as
counselling skills and a
story telling day - I will
send you much more details
on these soon - and all of
the modules I plan will be
part of an overall diploma
in hypnosis but time will
simply not allow me to do
all the paperwork necessary
to have that accredited
quite yet so what I intend
is structuring the modules
to accreditation standard
and postdating the
qualification. These will
start to run in the New
Year, for rough outline see:
http://www.vickirebecca.com/Hypnotherapy-Training.htm
And you wonder why I'm
always doing paper work!!!!!
...ahhh I've enjoyed the
hols housefull of kids,
pests and mess...but it's
nice to be back
Love Vicki xxxx

Plans for
this terms
Meditation
Last night
we spoke
about what
we would
like from
this term. I
hope I am
correct in
saying that
we wanted to
recap and
continue
with the
work we have
done on the
Secret,
perhaps go
deeper into
that, take
the concept
of gratitude
into looking
at what we
have now and
how we would
share that
as light
workers and
be of
service. We
will work on
"what is our
life
purpose" but
again take
that from
the concept
of creating
our own
reality. As
you can see
this is very
much a work
in progress
but I will
now plan
some
exercises
and group
work around
that. Other
consensus
was to keep
reminding
ourselves of
the basics
to keep
focused,
balanced,
prepare for
the winter
months
(perhaps
something on
dettoxing),
honour the
cycle of the
seasons and
let that
help us in
our busy
lives, jelp
each other
take care of
ourselves in
this
connected
way so that
we can
aspire to
and be at
one with our
life purpose
and the
secret and
be happy!

celebrations.
So we talked
a
while...then....I
talked the
group
through a
guided
relaxation
and a couple
of basic
breathing
techniques
for
meditation,
we then
opened and
welcomed the
group
energetically
for this
term,
touched on
some of the
work we
would do and
took that
inside to
see what it
meant on an
individual
level.
Everyone
chilled and
2
snoozers!!!
Good to be
back -
thanks to
everyone for
coming,
continuing
to support
the group
and special
welcome to
our
newcomers.
A little girl went to
her bedroom and pulled a
glass jelly jar from its
hiding place in the
closet.
She poured the change
out on the floor and
counted it carefully..
Three times, even. The
total had to be exactly
perfect. No chance here
for mistakes.
Carefully placing the
coins back in the jar
and twisting on the cap,
she slipped out the back
door and made her way 6
blocks to Rexall's Drug
Store with the big red
Indian Chief sign above
the door.
She waited patiently for
the pharmacist to give
her some attention, but
he was too busy at this
moment. Tess twisted her
feet to make a scuffing
noise.. Nothing. She
cleared her throat with
the most disgusting
sound she could muster.
No good. Finally she
took a quarter from her
ja and banged it on the
glass counter That did
it!
'And what do you want?'
the pharmacist asked in
an annoyed tone of
voice. I'm talking to my
brother from Chicago
whom I haven't seen in
ages,' he said without
waiting for a reply to
his question.
'Well, I want to talk to
you about my brother,'
Tess answered back in
the same annoyed tone.
'He's really, really
sick..and I want to buy
a miracle.'
'I beg your pardon?'
said the pharmacist.
'His name is Andrew and
he has something bad
growing inside his head
and my Daddy says only a
miracle can save him
now. So how much does a
miracle cost?'
'We don't sell miracles
here, little girl. I'm
sorry but I can't help
you,' the pharmacist
said, softening a little
'Listen, I have the
money to pay for it. If
it isn't enough, I will
get the rest. Just tell
me how much it costs.'
The pharmacist's brother
was a well dressed man.
He stooped down and
asked the little girl,
'What kind of a miracle
does you brother need?'
' I don't know,' Tess
replied with her eyes
welling up. I just know
he's really sick and
Mommy says he needs an
operation But my Daddy
can't pay for it, so I
want to use my money.'
'How much do you have?'
asked the man from
Chicago .
'One dollar and eleven
cents,' Tess answered
barely audibly.
'And it's all the money
I have, but I can get
some more if I need to.'
'Well, what a
coincidence,' smiled the
man. 'A dollar and
eleven cents---the exact
price of a miracle for
little brothers. '
He took her money in one
hand and with the other
hand he grasped her
mitten and said 'Take me
to where you live. I
want to see your brother
and meet your parents.
Let's see if I have the
miracle you need.'
That well dressed man
was Dr. Carlton
Armstrong, a surgeon,
specializing in neuro-surgery.
The operation was
completed free of charge
and it wasn't long until
Andrew was home again
and doing well.
Mom and Dad were happil
talking about the chain
of events that had led
them to this place.
'That surgery,' her Mom
whispered. 'was a real
miracle. I wonder how
much it would have
cost?'
Tess smiled. She knew
exactly how much a
miracle cost...one
dollar and eleven
cents....plus the faith
of a little child.
In our lives, we never
know how many miracles
we will need.
A miracle is not the
suspension of natural
law, but the operation
of a higher law. I know
you'll keep the ball
moving!
Here it goes. Throw it
back to someone who
means something to you!
A ball is a circle, no
beginning, no end. It
keeps us together like
our Circle of Friends.
But the treasure inside
for you to see is the
treasure of friendship
you've granted to me.
Today I pass the
friendship ball to you.
Pass it on to someone
who is a friend to you.
Newsletter 2007 - 1 Breathing
and Meditation
Some of you may already
realise that I have had trouble
with emails etc over the winter
- I have only just become aware
of the full extent of it so
please bear with me while I
correct this and improve the
newsletter and networking
service. The first thing is to
update your address books -
please use only
enquiries@vickirebecca.com
from now on and also update me
if your details have changed at
all over the years I've been
emailing you - thanks.
You may
have wondered why you haven't
received much news - the fact is
I have sent out lots of
interesting newsletters over the
winter and I now realise they
have not always been reaching
all the group. So I will now go
through the process of
re-editing them so that you are
not overwhelmed with out of date
info but of course there will be
some repetition for those of you
who have received them To make
it easier I will number all the
mails and write clear titles of
articles at the top of the page.
All About Breathing
I thought
that perhaps starting the year
with simply breathing was a
great idea so have
forwarded some messages I
received from a very good
friend, Lucy, who I met on my
first journey to Egypt in 2002.
I will let Lucy tell her own
story next newsletter but wanted
to pass on the info now.
I use abdominal breathing in my
own daily practice, it is often
the first intervention I bring
in when treating clients with
panic and anxiety states, and I
always teach it with core
stability work during fitness
training. We did some breath
work when the meditation classes
began in January - starting with
simply watching the breath as a
method of meditation. The second
week we included a abdominal
breathing technique I am
familiar with: "Secret Lungs" as
part of our relaxing down
(Track 3 in my Learning to Relax
CD), the following week we
tried Lucy's variation below -
both worked well. The power
breath (further down) was
generally held to be less
helpful because of the
complicated counting which was a
tad too much at the end of a
day. We practice another version
during yoga which starts as a
(e.g.) 4 in 4 out, then adds a
pause for 4, then double the out
breath, then double the pause -
all done gradually - which seems
to flow and involve less head
work. Either way power breathing
certainly sets you up for the
day. We will practice the 4/4
variation on Tues and alternate
nostril breathing (yet further
down) 2 weeks later - in fact if
you would like to know more
about meditation - scroll
further down again...but
here's a synopsis of our class
schedule for those of you that
can make it to Aberdeen:
Learning to Meditate - 20th
Feb - class example - guided
progressive relaxation,
abdominal breathing, 4/4/4,
suggestion to assist personal
practice, then personal
practice, 4/4/4, chanting and
re-energising come watch
27th Feb
"the secret"
break
13th
March - new block starting
with basics then going
through the chakras and
including group work

Do You Know How To Breathe?
If someone asked you if you
knew how to breathe, you'd
probably laugh. It's
something we do
automatically and
continuously from the moment
we are born, to the moment
we die. We do it without any
conscious thought. Surely,
if we didn't know to
breathe, we'd be dead. We
know we can't survive for
more than a couple of
minutes without breathing.
So we have come to take our
breath for granted.
However, somewhere along the
line, we've forgotten how to
breathe deeply. And it is
this deep breath that fills
us with life force and
energy (called prana in
yogic teaching). The more
air we inhale the more
oxygen we can take in. It
oxygenates our blood,
revitalising all the cells,
organs and glands of the
body, including the brain.
To See How It's Done Just
Watch How Babies Breathe
If you look at babies
breathing as they sleep, the
first thing you notice is
how their bellies move up
and down to the rhythm of
their breath. They are
relaxed and breathing
deeply. In our adult world
this is not considered a
good look. In the interests
of looking good, we are
continually being reminded
to suck in our bellies. This
makes deep breathing a well
nigh impossible task.
Stress
We very rarely breathe
deeply for a number of
reasons. The most important
of these is undoubtedly
stress. When we are
stressed, upset or scared we
tense up and our breathing
becomes shallow. In extreme
cases, during an anxiety or
panic attack, the lungs fill
up with carbon dioxide and
can't take in oxygen. And,
as a result you feel as if
you can't breathe. So learn
to breathe again with this
simple, but very powerful
breathing exercise.
Deep Abdominal Breathing
Whenever you do a breathing
exercise always start on the
exhalation. This will
eliminate all the carbon
dioxide that may have
collected in your lungs and
make room for the
introduction of fresh
oxygen.
1. Exhale all the
breath while gently
pulling in the
abdomen.
2. Begin inhaling
while puffing out
the abdomen
3. Gently bring the
breath upwards,
allowing the rib
cage to move to the
side, and then
continue bringing
the breath up,
allowing the chest
to expand.
4. Slowly begin to
exhale the breath
reversing this
process, exhaling
from the chest,
allowing the rib
cage and then the
abdomen to gently go
down.
|
The
breath should always be
relaxed. If your shoulders
are up by your ears you are
tensing! Relax, and let
those shoulders drop.
The Benefits
Deep abdominal breathing
reverses the stress reaction
by providing more
oxygenation of the blood
resulting in greater
relaxation, better emotional
balance and control, greater
mental clarity and sharpness
and greatly improved general
health. In technical terms,
it switches on the
parasympathetic part of the
involuntary nervous system,
which allows the system to
rest, relax and repair. Your
lung capacity will gradually
increase and so you will be
able to exercise more
without feeling winded.
Try it and see. Find a few
minutes several times a day
to practise 10 deep
breaths... At your desk,
when you go for a break,
during your lunch hour. Any
time is a good time to start
breathing.
Vibrantly yours
Lucy
The Power Breath For High Blood
Pressure, Cancer, Heart Disease
If you want to remind yourself of
the importance of breathing, just
stop!
Alternatively, you may prefer to
read some of the quotes from eminent
physicians listed below. They all
agree that a sufficient supply of
oxygen is critical to our health.
And that all major illnesses, from
high blood pressure to cancer to
heart disease, can be directly
linked to a lack of oxygen! (Or,
just skip to the end for
instructions on power breathing!)
Blood Pressure
"The relationship between breathing
and blood pressure has been known
and understood for a long time. It
boils down to this: Elevated blood
pressure accompanies those bodily
states where rapid shallow breathing
prevails. By altering breathing to a
slow diaphragmatic mode, blood
pressure decreases."
~ Robert Fried, PhD (The Breath
Connection, Pg. 152.)
Cancer
"The first discovery was made by
Nobel Prize winner Dr. Otto Warburg,
Director of the Max Planck Institute
for Cell Physiology in Berlin. He
confirmed that the key precondition
for the development of cancer is a
lack of oxygen at the cellular
level." ~Nathaniel Altman (Oxygen
Healing Therapies, Pg. 66.)
Heart Disease
"Coronary heart disease is due to a
lack of oxygen received by the
heart."
~Dr. Dean Ornish
Detoxification
"One of the most overlooked benefits
of extra oxygen in the tissues is
their ability to detoxify more
efficiently". ~ Dr. Kurt W. Donsbach,
D.C., N.D., (Educator, Scientist,
Lecturer, Consultant; and author of
Super Health.
"Oxygen-Oxygen-Oxygen".
"Illness is the result of improper
removal of toxins from the body.
Oxygen is the vital factor which
assists the body in removing
toxins." ~ Ed McCabe, ( Oxygen
Therapies, A New Way of Approaching
Disease).
Lymphatic System
"Jack Shield, MD, a Lymphologist
from Santa Barbara, CA, conducted a
study on the effects of breathing on
the lymphatic system. Using cameras
inside the body, he found that deep
diaphragmatic breathing stimulated
the cleansing of the lymph system by
creating a vacuum effect which
sucked the lymph through the
bloodstream. This increased the rate
of toxic elimination by as much as
15 times the normal pace." ~ "Lymph,
Lymph Glands, and Homeostasis" 25
No. 4, Dec 92, Pg.147-153
Overcoming Disease
"All chronic pain, suffering, and
diseases are caused by a lack of
oxygen at the cell level."
Dr. Arthur C. Guyton, MD, author The
Textbook on Medical Physiology.
The Power Breath
I was originally taught this
exercise by Tony Robbins and I used
to teach it to all my meditation
students. One of my students who was
recovering from breast cancer had
been taught this exercise in the
hospital!
The power breath uses deep abdominal
breathing and breath retention. The
most important thing to remember in
any breathing exercise is not to
strain. Just hold the breath as long
as is comfortable, gradually as you
relax and as your lung capacity
increases, you will find that you
can increase the count.
The exhalation in this exercise is
twice as long as the inhalation. The
ratio of the in breath, hold and
exhale is 1:4:2. Start with a count
of 3, hold for a count of 12 and
breathe out for a count of 6 or a
ratio of 3:12:6.
Then when you begin to relax
gradually build up the time to
inhale for a count of 5, hold for a
count of 20 and exhale for a count
of 10 or 5:20:10.
The Exercise
Always start on the exhalation to
remove all excess carbon dioxide
from your lungs, gently pull in the
abdomen as you breathe out. Inhale
for a count of 3 while allowing your
abdomen to expand, bring the air
upwards, allowing the rib cage to
move to the side, then as you
continue to breathe in allow the
chest to expand.
Hold the breath for a count of 12.
Then exhale for a count of 12,
exhaling from the chest, allowing
the rib cage and then the abdomen to
go gently down. Repeat 10 times.
What better way to start the day
than by filling your lungs with the
maximum amount of oxygen. Awaken
your body with 10 power breaths and
repeat regularly throughout the day.
Great when you're feeling a bit
sluggish.
Give your body the oxygen it needs
for optimum health and vitality.
Breathe!!!
Vibrantly
yours
Lucy
Keep Breathing
I hope
you're remembering to
breathe ... deeply... using
the abdominal breathing
technique?
Remember, you can survive
without food for weeks,
without water for days, but
you can only survive a few
minutes without breathing!
Today,
I want to introduce you to
another breathing technique.
This one's called Alternate
Nostril Breathing - and just
like it says on the tin,
that's exactly what you do,
breathe first using one
nostril and then the other!
Now, I
can just hear you asking -
'but why?'
The
Benefits
Well,
... and the reason I love
this breathing exercise so
much, just take a look at
what it will do for you!
Alternate nostril breathing
will help ...
 |
soothe, purify and
strengthen your nervous
system |
 |
help you to develop
control of your body,
mind and emotions
|
 |
increase your mental
alertness |
 |
cleanse and open your
nasal passages
|
 |
normalise your metabolic
process |
 |
combat the overall
detrimental effects of
stress |
 |
balance the right and
left centres of the
brain to stimulate
creativity and improve
logical thinking.
|
Who
would have thought something
as simple as breathing,
something we take completely
for granted, could achieve
so much!
How
would you like to feel
calmer, clearer, more
centred, more creative and
more in control? Here's how
to do it!
Alternate Nostril Breathing
-
Make a gentle fist with
your right hand, extend
the thumb and the last
two fingers, leaving a
space for your nose. (If
you find using the last
two fingers awkward,
just use your index and
middle finger instead.)
-
With your thumb, gently
close off the right
nostril and exhale
through the left.
-
Using the deep abdominal
breathing, inhale
through the left nostril
then close it off with
the last two fingers and
exhale through the right
nostril. Continue by
inhaling through the
right nostril, closing
it off and exhaling
through the left.
(If
you need a reminder on how
to do the deep abdominal
breathing, I've added the
instructions at the end of
this email)
Not
one I would recommend doing
in public! And make sure you
have a hankie handy, as it
can really start to clear
those nasal passages!
But
try it and see, you'll be
amazed how good you feel.
Find a few minutes to
practise 10 deep alternate
nostril breaths...
anytime... first thing in
the morning... last thing at
night... and at work, how
about during your next
comfort break!
Keep
breathing.
Vibrantly yours

Guidelines for Meditation
'Can't Get You
Out Of My Head!'
Do you sometimes
feel you're not
in control of
your own mind?
Are there times
there are
thoughts you
just can't get
out of your
head? (A bit
like the Kylie
Minogue song!)
Do endless,
repetitive
thoughts
sometimes stop
you from
sleeping?
Well, meditation
can help you...
Become The
Master Of Your
Mind!
Meditation is a
very simple
practice that
can make a huge
difference to
the quality of
your life. Don't
let its
simplicity fool
you, the results
are very
powerful and
sometimes truly
astonishing. In
a study done in
New York some
years back, they
showed that when
1% of the
population
practiced
Transcendental
Meditation (TM),
the crime rate
dropped
significantly!
If it could
alter the crime
rate of a city,
just imagine
what it could do
for you!
So are you ready
to become the
master of YOUR
mind!
Meditation
Technique
This simple
meditation
technique can be
practised
anytime,
anywhere. It's
great for
beginners and
experienced
meditators
alike. You don't
need to be able
to do yoga or
sit in the lotus
position, a high
backed chair is
just fine.
Sit comfortably
with your spine
straight but
relaxed. (You
can place a
cushion behind
your lower back
if you are not
used to sitting
up straight.) To
help you adopt
the right
position,
imagine a string
attached to the
top of your
crown gently
drawing you
upwards, you
will feel your
spine stretching
ever so slightly
and your chin
tilting
downwards a
fraction.
Now, gently
close your eyes.
Relax.
Begin to bring
your attention
to your breath.
Just notice your
breath without
trying to alter
it in any way...
Notice where you
experience your
breath, it may
be the sensation
of the abdomen
rising and
falling, or you
may experience
it higher - in
your chest.
Place all your
attention on
your breath. You
are not thinking
about the
breath, you are
just aware of
it.
Every time a
thought comes
into your mind,
gently but
firmly bring
your attention
back to your
breath. There is
no judgement,
there is no
trying; you are
simply noticing
what is there.
Congratulations,
you are
meditating. It
really is that
simple!
This simple
awareness of the
breath is used
in many
different
traditions and
is a great way
to start any
form of
meditation. It
forms an
integral part of
mindfulness
meditation which
is all about
being in the
present moment,
being in the
experience
rather than
thinking about
it.
How Long Should
I Meditate For?
If you are new
to meditation
you can start
with 5 minutes
and gradually
build up to 20
minutes. Many
meditation
teachers
recommend 20
minutes twice a
day. But any
time spent in
meditation is
helpful, so if
you only have a
couple of
minutes, then
spend those two
minutes
meditating!
Be patient with
yourself! This
process is a
gradual
re-training of
the mind. It's
designed to put
you back in
control, and

A sacred site is simply a
location on Earth where the
energy radiates at a higher
frequency and offers the visitor
an accelerated experience and an
opportunity for deep spiritual
evolution. Sacred places can be
a natural formation, like the
mountains of Peru or Tibet, or
even a special hillside in your
community. They can be temples
built of stone, like in the
Mayalands and Egypt, or as
simple as a little rock circle
where you pray everyday.
Sacred sites built and anchored
by the ancients, are usually
built on energy, ley lines and
many contain high concentrations
of natural crystal. Many were
built in the
reflection/formation of star
systems and used sacred geometry
in their architecture. In
Momostenango, where Star Beings
came to Earth 10,000 years ago,
the Earth itself sparkles with
billions of little crystals. In
Moray, Peru, where the Inca
people still perform sundances,
there are huge pieces of white
quartz. In the Mayan sites on
Copan and Quirigua, sites that
were greatly influenced by
beings from the beyond, exhibit
huge amounts of visible white
quartz crystal and sacred
geometry was also used. The
Mayan site of Tikal is built in
the image of the Pleiades and is
a huge solar marker. Giza in
Egypt is built in the image of
Orion.
Many sacred sites of the world
are known to have
extraterrestrial / star being
influence. These ancient
galactic travelers were able to
anchor immense power into these
sacred sites using a highly
refined use of thought,
intention and light. This is why
sacred sites can vibrate with
ancient knowledge and energy
even after millions of years.
Inca Spiritual Messenger,
Willaru Huayta teaches this
ancient use of intention and
light. The Stones of Ica, even
after 65 million years, can be
felt by spiritual travelers to
have the impact of the galactic
knowledge locked inside.
Ancient visitors aligned sacred
centers around the globe by
using ley lines and intent. As I
mentioned above, they also
aligned these sites with
different star systems in the
universe. In the sacred site of
Silutstani, Peru, when one
mediates inside one of the stone
structures still remaining, one
can experience the frequency of
and communicate with another
galaxy! These advanced
techniques for awakening have
been forgotten, but are now
re-emerging. The prophesied
revolution of consciousness is
upon us now. This is why so many
are drawn to visit sacred sites,
as these profound links between
Earth and the heavens help us to
activate ourselves into a higher
form of consciousness.
How are we learn in sacred
sites? We learn from sacred
sites through resonance. When we
enter a sacred site, we do not
learn solely with our minds, as
we have been taught in the
modern world. We learn with our
entire being, and our entire
being will shift because of this
learning. We understand that the
living library locked within our
DNA is in every single cell of
our body. This is whole body
activation and is exactly as the
ancients intended us to learn.
Use of the mind by itself brings
little wisdom and is one of the
main reasons humanity is in the
shape it is in right now. In
sacred sites we learn to use all
7 centres of the body and change
our definition of what the mind
is, or where it is in our
bodies.
Why visit a sacred site? Because
of the heightened frequencies of
sacred sites, we can advance our
psychic and spiritual abilities,
access inner wisdom locked
within the DNA and remember
natural healing techniques for
our physical, emotional, mental,
and spiritual bodies. Obtained
knowledge and wisdom can also be
applied to personal, group,
country, continent and planetary
karma, even to
multi-dimensional, and universal
healing and activation. A
paraphrased Tibetan saying
shares . One day in a sacred
site is like a thousand days of
meditation.
As one visits a sacred site in a
reverent and sacred way, an
exchange of energy happens. Each
pilgrim will begin to embody the
energy and wisdom from each
sacred center they visit, one
building upon another.
Simultaneously, the sacred sites
will gain strength and frequency
from the pilgrim. Also, a
bonding happens between sites,
where each sacred site becomes
energetically connected to all
others on the Earth. When the
Maya of Momostenango perform
ancient ceremony, they call in
all sacred sites of the Earth by
name, thus empowering their
ceremony, the site, and the
earth. Not only do they draw on
the energy from all sacred sites
of the earth, but also feed them
at the same time. It is a
symbiotic relationship, where
unity and oneness with all life
is created and expanded.
With the understanding that we
are all connected, what we do
for ourselves, we do for
humanity; and as we heal the
Earth, we heal the universe.
Thus, when visiting sacred
sites, one can accomplish in
minutes what might take years.
What one awaking person does
inside a sacred site can help
uncountable people around the
Earth.
When we return home from a
sacred site pilgrimage, the
energy does not dissipate, but
integrates with our modern
lives. This helps usher in the
higher frequencies, furthering
everyone.s evolution in your
community. This helps fulfill
the ancient prophecies of a new
Age of Light, or the Golden Age.
In fact, visiting a sacred site
can change your life. Many upon
returning home greatly shift
their lives based not on what
they have learned, but mostly on
how they FEEL.
So if you plan to travel great
distances for a sacred
pilgrimage, or simply pray in a
special location in your local
community, there is a great deal
you can do to help Mother Earth
and humanity's evolution into
the Age of Light.

Winter Anxiety
Many people feel stressed at the onset of
winter, especially in the north of Scotland.
Physiologically, this increases the need for B
vitamins. B vitamins are depleted, not only by
stress, but also by the usual winter increase in
sugary foods and alcohol. While it is possible
to take a B Complex supplement (like Higher
Natures True Food B Complex), but it is also a
good idea to increase foods including whole
grains, lean meat, and milk (if you are ok with
it). St John's Wort and 5HTP are also useful
supplements for those suffering with SAD (not to
be used if taking antidepressant medication).
You can also get daylight bulbs to put in your
bedside and desk lamps. These really do make a
difference.
Winter Circulation
You are more likely to be affected by poor
circulation in the winter, especially the older
you are and the harsher the weather. Obviously,
wrap up warmly when you go out - don't be a
slave to the fashion of exposed midriffs. If you
get chilblains or cold toes and fingers then you
may find Ginkgo Biloba useful. Make sure you are
getting enough antioxidants like Vitamin E. For
arthritic conditions, you may find Glucosamine
Sulfate or MSM helpful.
Winter Energy and Mood
If you are feeling washed out and lacklustre,
then topping up your Magnesium levels could
help. Healthy snacks like nuts, pumpkin and
sunflower seeds are rich in Magnesium. Pulses
(perfect for slow cooking) and whole grains are
also high in this mineral. You can also take a
supplement of around 300mg per day. Magnesium
also supports the work of vitamin B in reducing
stress levels.
Winter Aches and Pains
With the onset of the cold and damp your joints
will need some support. Oily fish like sardines,
mackerel, and salmon are rich in anti-oxidant
essential fatty acids called Omega 3s. Combined
with Hemp oil or pumpkin seeds to maintain a
healthy balance of Omega 6 and 3, your joints
will stay lubricated. Try to have around 3
portions of the above fish per week. If you
don't like fish, then you can take omega 3 or
fish oil capsules.
Winter Coughs and Colds
Following my introductory advice, you can fight
back against respiratory infections by boosting
your intake of Vitamins C and E, beta carotene
and anti-oxidants. The best sources of these
include red and yellow peppers, kiwi and citrus
fruit, green leafy vegetables and nuts. Higher
Nature do a great supplement called Rosehip C
which provides 1000mg of vitamin C, which can be
taken daily. Here's a chance to be a follower of
fashion as well - keep your neck warm with one
of the gorgeous long, colourful scarves
available, and remember that you lose most of
your heat through your head, so keep it covered!
Winter Solstice
- a festival of
inner renewal
Winter Solstice, the
shortest day of the year, is the mirror
image of the longest day, or Summer
Solstice. The Winter Solstice is the deepest
moment of the winter, the point where the
sun stands still, where motion ceases,
nature holds its breath - yet life begins to
stir again. Winter remains to unfold
particularly in this part of the world but a
cycle has reversed, spring has been born.
Seeds asleep under the cold earth and
animals in hibernation will not move yet but
within them a process has completed itself.
As we become more conscious of that cycle
within ourselves we can use this time of
death and rebirth for our personal growth.
We can use this time for reflection,
considering where we are on life’s journey
and what we intend to shift this winter and
birth in spring.
This realisation may
help fight the January blues as celebrating
the Solstices can break what can seem like
the long haul from Christmas until the
spring. Taking time out on the 21st to
gather with friends, meditating, relaxing or
simply making a promise to you to do nothing
at all can be a welcome respite from the
exhaustion and tedium of commercialised
Christmas. For me this practice alleviated
the dread of the long winter months just
knowing that on this day we were already
half way to Spring Equinox and the return of
the sun led me to look forward to it more
each year. On a deeper level, the more I
worked with the energy of the solstice, the
more I appreciated the chance to turn
within, look at the year gone by, let go of
what no longer served me and plant my seeds
of intention for the year ahead. (And it
seems even more so this year – read in
conjunction with Alison Rae’s message for
this weekend
During this period,
align with the higher-dimensional
frequencies through individual and group
ritual, prayer, ceremony, meditation, dance,
drumming, chanting and creative activities.
Allow for the transformation of your
beliefs, ideals and aspirations. Let go of
judgment and what you think you know. Reach
higher, commune with cosmic intelligence. Go
for the extreme experiences. Journey into
unknown realms. Channel your creativity in
new and stimulating ways. Now is the time to
manifest your dreams and visions!
and note also that
the new moon is on Weds the 20th at 14.01
and the solstice at 22 past midnight on 22nd
– mega chance to set intentions for the new
age ahead)
We can assist that
process quietly and privately or use some of
the many rituals and celebrations that have
been handed down the ages. The rituals are
designed to help us remember that the
seasons of the year like the seasons of our
lives come and go. It is our choice whether
we are aware of the dynamic that controls
them or not. Winter and the dark months
initiate the coming of light and life. Fact.
If we consciously participate in it we can
input now what will be born in the summer
–plant the seed that will sprout in the
spring.
My favourite ritual
for the winter solstice is gathering in
front of fire or around the table after
dinner with a large new red candle in the
centre to represent the group as a whole and
the Solstice Sun. You may wish to place the
candle within a Yule Wreath as a symbol of
cycles of nature. Participants all have a
smaller red candle (tea lights are good). As
each person lights their candle they speak a
vision or wish for the planet for the coming
year: “My Solstice Wish is ….” then place
their candle in a circle around the large
one in the centre. One year after a slap up
“Solstice Feast” with friends including
children aged between 2 -10 we shared the
very best and the very worst of the year
gone by and our personal wishes for the year
ahead – fantastic. The children of course
surpassed anything the adults came up with,
their honest simplicity bringing tears and
smiles to the adult faces.
Remember rituals are
not set in stone for use only by new age
hippies but are ideas and traditions to be
used and adapted to suit you, your family
and friends, so try something different this
year. Other ideas to play with are greeting
the Sun at dawn on Solstice morning by
ringing bells, drumming drums, singing or
chanting. Lighting a Yule Log fire and as it
begins to burn, throwing in one or more
dried holly sprigs to say farewell to the
old calendar year (Holly represents the
waning solar year, Summer Solstice to Winter
Solstice). Farewells can take the form of
thanksgiving and appreciation and/or a
banishment of old habits or personal pains.
Once the Yule Log itself starts blazing,
think of the year ahead and the power of
possibilities, then throw in an oak twig or
acorn into the fire to represent the year
ahead (Oak represents the waxing solar year,
Winter Solstice to Summer Solstice) and call
out a resolution, hope or dream.
This year solstice
falls on Sunday 21st December 2008 at 12.04 and
sunrise is approx 8.45am on that day. The
colours of the celebration are Red, Green,
and White.
For sure I will be up
at the circle near Tarland (Tomnaverie) and if you'd like to join me
around 8.40 - NB the above times are for
Glasgow and will be 10/15mins later for
sunrise here) we'll drum up the sunrise and
celebrate!
THERAPY AND

Workshops and
private therapy
are now
available
anywhere in the
world. I love to
travel and like
many of us
living in this
part of the

though the
winter - my
physical body
just doesn't
like the lack of
sun (and neither
does my head or
any other part
of me) so I am
available from
December to
Easter for
training and /
or therapy
abroad. Like
many of you I
dream of having
my own retreat
somewhere in the
sun but I've got
a funny feeling
retirement is a
wee bit away for
me at the
moment. Then we
simply agree to
a general goal
for a group
training wise
and if required
a specified
amount of
private
training/therapy/fitness
while there, -
the rest of the
time is your own
and my own to
enjoy however we
wish wherever we
are. I know many
of you struggle
(as I do)
fitting in work,
training, own
therapy - and
holidays - and
some of those
retreats abroad
sound good in
some ways - but
not quite "me"
in others and
expensive. This
way you can do
the therapy then
walk away from
it - to meditate
and work
further, be
pampered, live
it up at the
disco partake in
any holiday
activity you
fancy or do
absolutely
nothing.
January 2007
sees us already

sports as the
background.
May 2007 is a
possibility as
are background
agendas of
windsurfing and
basic Padi
courses. Sacred
tours for
private groups
also available.
January or
February 2008
Family oriented

Intensive therapy 2/3
days here, tough but successful, are also
